Is there anyone here who thinks the Star Wars prequels were better than TFA/R1?

I have a friend who thought The Force Awakens and Rogue One were complete trash, and that the prequels were actually really good. I don't even see how that's possible. Anyone here feel that way too? Care to explain your reasoning?

I have no respect for people who think the prequels are good.

TFA was OK. R1 was pretty good.

TFA is grossly overrated but it wasn't boring monotone garbage like the prequels.

At least TFA put real human beings in the movie who tried to act like real human beings.

I think RotS is up for debate being near Rogue One, but that's it. Sure TFA wasn't original, but it was a highly competent movie with good new characters.

The other 2 prequels on the other hand are total garbage. RotS was just too late to save the garbage train that was the prequels, and there were several frickups in that movie as well.

I thought TFA was pretty weak aside from some really good moments. No wow factor for me at all.

Rogue One was incredible.

I knew Phantom Menace was crap while I was watching it but wouldn't accept that for years. AotC was well..., and I could barely trudge through RotS.

No. Ep III is the only respectable prequel

I thought TFA was the best since Empire.

But Rogue One supplanted it.

TFA and R1 were staggeringly mediocre and they're still much better than the prequels

I don't hate the prequels as much as most people but they are vastly inferior to all other Star Wars movies

I thought Rogue One was one of the best of all the movies, granted I have only seen it once and haven't been back.

Force Awakens is a time filler, it started a new story, nothing special.

As for the prequels, I thought they did what they were supposed to do and tell a story and had lots of effects. No matter how we got to the point, Anakin would always become Vader and the ending would never be happy. Luke was a whiney shite so Anakin being one too makes sense. I thought it brought us the best two saber duels and I liked a lot of the characters, they just lacked a certain depth to the story.

Jar Jar is comprable to the Ewoks to me, they were both comedy filler. Kids loved Jar Jar like we loved the Ewoks as kids.

I really enjoyed that Rogue One went back to basics, practical effects and a deeper story of hope. makes me mad thinking that Disney axed the new Star Wars game that would have been similar to the Jedi Academy games.

frick no. They are beyond terrible.

Anti-cheese version makes them watchable. Regular version is not watchable.

ETA: I loved Rogue One. Saw it three nights in a row.

Rogue One is heads and shoulders above all other non-OT films.

TFA was a clusterfrick reboot. It gave me crystal skull flashbacks.

The prequels were all horrible movies, but despite all their cringe, they do have a few moments of redemption. I'm somewhat nostalgic about TPM. It's the only one I'll watch again when I come across it on TV.

TFA was complete trash. Revenge of the Sith has its moments. You could say that the three prequels each had at least one great scene. TFA had none.

I think an argument can definitely be made that Revenge of the Sith is better, but Phantom Menace is a pile of garbage and Attack of the Clones is mediocre.

The force awakens is the death of Star Wars. It's by far the worst ep and marks the beginning of the end. Abrams should've never been allowed anywhere near Star Wars and is destroying an important part of American cinema not to mention a generational family pastime.

Thinking back i didnt mind the story lines of the 3 prequels as much as the lousy acting. Anikin was cast horribly for both child and adult. That stupid lizard frog race was bad to.

I rewatch for yoda and the siths. Obe wan was solid too.

I do like the force awakens and im glad they killed off harrison ford. I thought he looked old and decrepid, not just the part but in Real life.

Yeah, me.

TFA could have been written by a 10 year old. I was bored as shite watching, there was no suspense, just entirely predictable and the casting for Kylo bothered the shite out of me.

I think it became the cool internet thing to do at some point to shite on the prequels. Yeah there's some cheesy effects and acting but it's a good story and I thought it was told well. Whatever maybe that's why I'm not a certified yelper/movie reviewer

Rogue One felt very similar to a lot of the good and bad of the PT. Rogue One had weak, unrelateable characters with stiff dialogue, but it wasn't afraid to use CGI to include lots of unique, alien landscapes. I would say I probably enjoy Rogue One about on the same level I enjoy Revenge of the Sith.
