They should continue to be good, but Watson is a special special talent. He had IT even as a freshmen before he got injured.

yeah, 1 of them isn't going to finish at Clemson, and neither one of those guys are Watson... not even close...

shouldn't be but remember USC had every damn #1 QB coming to them and their run just fizzled out. Lots of shite can happen.

Auburn had Jeremy Johnson at one time, too. But I agree. They are doing a fantastic job at QB recruiting.

I think people extremely underestimate the importance of a team having a once in a generation type player for them. I'm sure peopel thought the train would keep rolling after Vince Young, manziel, cam, etc graduated but none of those worked out too well. Look at dabo's career at clemson:

5 losses
7 losses
4 losses
2 losses
2 losses
3 losses
[insert deshaun watson as starting QB]
14-1 title game loss
14-1 title game win

it's not like he's a rookie coach. He's been their coach for 8.5 years (took over midseason 08).

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not downplaying dabo or downplaying clemson, they are going to be in the top 10 for as long as he's there IMO. But to say they're building some kind of bama-like dynasty or think they're going to be title contenders every year now is simply not based in any reality. Bama has gone to the title game with what...like 5 different starting QBs? They also have the nation's #1 defnese just about every year.

CU will continue to be good for sure, no doubt..but to think they'll keep right on going and not skip a beat without watson is just naive.

It's entirely possible Clemson lands three of the top four in 2018. Crazy.

It's hard to see both guys being on the same team. If Johnson is a good as thought then he would, at minimum, be a RS Freshman when Lawrence got on campus. Of course, they may be selling both on a plan where Johnson doesn't RS, thus making him a Soph. when Lawrence comes on campus. Ask Lawrence to wait two years until Johnson leaves after his Jr., then come on as the starter. That said, it's hard to see the #1 QB in 2018 wanted to wait two years to play. Further, if Lawrence were to come in a start immediately, Johnson would almost assuredly leave.

Still, it's good to have options
