There are other forms of heat. Natural gas, propane and electrical which do not hurt the air quality as bad. But there's only one source of air to breath unlike energy sources.

It's not the government's motherfickin job to tell someone how to heat their homes. Piss off statist.

Seems pretty obvious to me the EPA wants people in Alaska to freeze to death.

Guys, this wood burning garbage went into effect Jan 1, 2014. Has been in conversation much longer than that, I'm sure. It's a non-issue. To be resurrected now is just another topic to bicker about. No one is having their fires put out by the government.

Just like there are laws to protect the Southern border, but your boy doesn't care.

It's their job to provide clean water and air. That's like saying the gov shouldn't tell us to not put lead in our water. "It's the only water we have, want us to die of thirst?"

No it's not.

If I'm cold, I'll burn wood or coal if I damn well please.

Typical bureaucrats.
They want to save Alaskans from the smoke by freezing them to death.
fricking idiots.

Wrong. The EPA was created in 1970 because Lake Erie was a mess and LA had smog. Both problems could have been handled without the EPA. But once the EPA was established they did what all govt agencies do. They overstepped their original purpose in order to justify their existence and grow their budget.

The EPA is just rediculous, Alaska probably has the cleanest air quality in all of the USA and they want to tell people they can't burn wood, WOOD, for warmth
Get the frick out of lives government.

No, it's become politicized. Their job is to harass states where the current administration doesn't have widespread support.

Yeah because humans JUST started burning wood for warmth. Damn republicans!

There have been stories on this in the New York Times.
Here's where you made your first mistake.

Wood puts particles in the air and the nature of winter with temperature inversions means that the smoke and particles don't just harmlessly dissipate in the larger atmosphere.
Man been burning wood for thousands of years to get warm, & suddenly we know better like adding automobiles with frickin lasers attached to their head aren't causing much more damage.
Maybe we should go back to carts & buggies too! Oh, but that's cruel to horses!
Let's just not do anything, ever. Earth is a sentient being & we are not.

The EPA said they need to meet the standards or they will not receive money from the government. This is the most fair thing I've ever heard of. LAW AND ORDER
