Johnny Majors of Tennessee got screwed that year, like Peyton Manning did in 1997.
The national media hated the SEC, and had been hyping Hornung and ND before the season. Even though they went 2-8, the myth they had created was so strong that the voters have a slight edge to Hornung. After Peyton's screwing in 1997 by voters, the 1956 one was probably the second biggest joke in Heisman history.
