The post I read had king as king and not King. Given this my interpretation was in error. I would have suggested ' the King' rather than 'a King'
Even if it wasn't capitalized, anyone who actually believes they were pushing Trump as a king is an idiot and is searching for something to melt/whine about.

Like I said, you should feel bad.

they almost certainly did not show up on the night of the birth, but probably at a time when the God/Child was about 2-3 years old.

Very good to point that out. I was about to chime in...the actual account of Christ's birth is available in the New Testament for all to read, but people keep getting it wrong for the most part. Joseph was required to report to his hometown for a Roman census. Mary was about to pop with the baby. The Inn was filled with other travelers going to their respective homes for the census and there was no vacancy. The only shelter was a barn for the travelers animals. They weren't "refugees " like people are trying to claim. The "Three Wise Men" from the East (which could have been Persia or even the Orient) were diviners who followed the astrological signs. A great star appeared over the city of Bethlehem and they had previously seen nothing like it so they went. Determining that such a sign in the Heavens must mean that a great King has been born (from prophesy) so they brought gifts as was customary. They certainly did not get there overnight, so it is widely accepted by biblical scholars that these men showed up when Jesus was a very young child. They went to inquire of the magistrate, King Herod, upon entering the country, as a customary show of respect and reported of an ancient prophesy of a great king and the star that shall proceed his birth. Herod became worried and started plotting the murder of the child. He told the easterners to go find the child and report back so "he may also go to worship him". After the angel of the Lord warned the men in a dream to NOT return to Herod, they went home another route. Realizing he had been tricked, Herod decreed that every child 3 and under to be killed. Joseph was warned in a dream by a angel that he was to take Jesus to a jurisdiction beyond Herod's reach until it was safe. Judea was under Roman Empire rule, as was Egypt. Joseph took the family to Egypt until the heat blew over. Bravo to you for pointing out the truth concerning that night

It is crystal clear. You're just either a troll, or an idiot. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you are just being a troll, but it wouldn't surprise me if you were an idiot.

Geesh, people.

The OP is a conservative Republican and a Protestant minister. Furthest thing from an SJW that you can find.

I hope Trump succeeds in Making America Great Again. But let's be careful not to Messianize him like the left did to Obama.

So much fail on the RNC's part. First, there goes any of their outreach to non-Christians. Not that I care, but if they want to widen the base and show they do not hate Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, and none of the above they should have just had a Merry Christmas and Peace on Earth message instead of an overtly Christian one.

Come on. That's just dumb.

December 25 is the actual date on which most Christians observe the celebration of the Nativity. It is not in any way, shape, or form exclusionary to recognize today's celebration.

They also recognized Hannukah, which happened to begin at sundown last night:

quote:

“As our Jewish friends and family around the country gather to light the first candle, we hope they will enjoy a special time of closeness and joy this Hanukkah season. These eight nights serve as a reminder of how the Maccabees never gave up hope amidst danger and uncertainty, and each year the Festival of Lights is a time to reflect on the power of faith and perseverance. We wish a Happy Hanukkah to all who are gathering around the menorah, and pray this year’s festivities will be a time of celebration and blessings for our Jewish communities.”

Ramadan isn't this time of year but the RNC always releases a message at the right time.

No one claims they were refugees in the way to Bethlehem. They were definitely refugees when they had the flight to Egypt after this when Herod was trying to kill him and killed all the boys 2 and under in the area.

It's been all over CNN today. That's EXACTLY what they were claiming on viewing the Nativity scene

Then they get the timing wrong.

CNN is not an authority.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph WERE refugees when they had to flee Bethlehem and Herod and go to Egypt, after being warned by the angel in the dream. Yes. Refugees.

They were NOT refugees when they were going to Bethlehem for the census.

I didn't say they were an authority.

And yeah they were refugees from Herod afterwards. There's a huge difference between Jesus, Joseph, and Mary living in Egypt in fear of Herod and the military age males of Islamic origin masquerading as refugees. Don't be a dumb arse and try to paint all refugees as equal.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph didn't subscribe to a death cult that told them to kill all those who didn't believe as they did.
