I hear that the replacement is a close contest between Dale Brown's gardener and Collis Temple's car guy. BTW, they both are lifetime LSU fans and bleed purple and gold.

Joe Alleva is still our AD and sadly they don't give a shite about the basketball program, hence firing Johnny Jones in the first place. They'll hire another former LSU player, he'll be extremely underwhelming, and we'll go through the same thing over again.

They will not hire someone of that caliber and you know it.
Best case, a retread like Stansbury or someone with ties to the program like Kermit Davis.

It depends on who makes the hire.
Alleva won't be allowed to hire a third basketball coach. He's a package deal with Jones - if Johnny is gone, so is Alleva.

Why the frick would any of those guys come to LSU? Let's not pretend this is a top 30 college basketball job. Gonzaga and UVA are easily better and you can argue Wichita St is a better basketball job than LSU.

I mean, I've been beating the drum to get Archie Miller here, but I know that he's never going to coach here. Why would he? Dayton, right now, is a better basketball program. Not team, program.
Gonzaga, Virginia, Wichita St, all better programs than LSU.
We aren't going to get the basketball version of Saban here anytime soon. Since we currently have the basketball version of Curley Hallman, we need to shoot for the a DiNardo to at least start the turnaround.

Bennett or Marshall are pipe dreams.
Bennett is in the ACC. If he leaves it will be a significant step up.
Marshall is holding out for a major job, like Kentucky or North Carolina.
Kermit Davis or Archie Miller are possible, depending on what other jobs open up. Both would be fantastic hires.

Bennett's wife is a Baton Rouge native, and they would have taken the job when Tony was at Washington State. True story.

Gregg ain't leaving for LSU. Bama opened the checkbook last year and he didn't take it. Don't see him leaving except for a big time gig.
