Neither Bennett nor Marshall are coming to LSU. The top of my realistic list is Kermit Davis. After that, I think we need to take our time and conduct a full scale search (I know, I'm asking a lot).

Just fyi. Marshall's salary goes up to $3.5M per year in 2018, plus other possible incentives. His buyout for leaving is $500,000 but goes down each year until it reaches $200,000 eventually. Not sure when. Regardless, it's been widely speculated he's waiting for a big job to open.

Same for Archie Miller. He's waiting for a blue blood program. And he's got a comfortable spot to wait in a decent, but winnable conference and very good facilities.

LSU had their chance with Tony. That's passed.

Yep...again, another clusterfrick botching by Alleva

we absolutely could have had him when we hired Trent Johnson, and Tony would still be here and making deep tourney runs

I've been saying this for the last several years on here and a few times already in the last few weeks.

Could've had the guy fast, easy and cheap back when Johnson was hired, but "Peas" just couldn't do the right thing and pull the trigger.

Jim Larranaga, doubt we could get him but it would be worth a try.

Here's another true story for you. It's going to be at least as hard , if not harder, to unload Jones as it was to cut ties with that anchor GoodOleLess . The Bagman has heavy weight in his corner, as you're going to see. The payback has been payed , and he has miserably failed. Like the old song goes , "how long has this been going on ".

So for any insiders, who's calling the shots on basketball coach hiring and firing? Is there more than one faction of power? What are the criteria being looked at for failure and instigating a change? (record, tournament appearances, ticket sales, fan displeasure/booing/letters of discontent, academic performance/apr, bad losses, coaching deficiencies?)? How low does the program have to sink to make a change? Remember that Johnson took the program really low and he wasn't canned. He left for TCU.

Jones will be gone this year. May be CPM if he does not make CWS in next 2 years

Certainly with his recruiting ties in New York, I can't say I disagree. Also, he can flat-out put on a show for the fans.

LSU from Gonzaga is a HUGE step down. Gonzaga is the "Georgetown" for Basketball in the West. Name another program, other than Arizona, that has consistently been on top for the last 20 years.

Why on earth would Mark Few leave Gonzaga for anything short of replacing Mike Krzyzewski at Duke?
