Commissioners Help-League Ruling

I am the Commissioner for a league and need to know how other commissioners would handle this. I want to do whats best for my league. We have been together for 8-9 years with 1 or 2 people changes.
We voted at draft that only def gets points for punt or kickoff returns. no individual player.
Well i flooded and didn't realize that i didn't change in the setting. So all year we have played with player getting points. i have checked and it wouldn't change any records if i change back.
but we had 2 guys playing for last playoff spot last weekend. T Hill returned put so player 1 wins by 2 pts and makes playoffs. If i change it to what was voted. then he losses 6pts and player 2 wins and makes playoffs
both of them have stated they want their money back if it goes against them
What is the proper thing to do. Change to rules voted on or by what settings that was played all year.
I was thinking to put it to vote with the other 7 members of league.
what would you do for your leagues. thanks for any help

Put it to a vote with the other 7 guys and emphasize that it didn't impact prior games. It was voted on by the league so it should be the way it was intended.
ETA - Only give money back to the guy who gets screwed if the rule you voted on isn't followed

If you played all year with it that way, it's tough to change it, even with the vote.

If you've played this way all year, it seems wrong to change it for the last week, especially if its already played out. Even though it didnt affect any outcomes before this, the player values are affected and may have effected drafts, trades, pick ups, and drops based on the settings. And also it might come into play in the upcoming weeks. If even one guy knew the settings were different, you cant change it now.
I guess the argument is if you've had the same settings for 9 years, nobody else noticed the change because they were all dealing with flood too, so just keep everything the same as always, and dont let one guy get lucky because of an overlooked setting.
Same thing actually happened in my league.(also flooded that week). I caught one mistake the first week so changed it, but another didnt get caught until after the season so i had to let it ride. It was something like ww priorities or something fairly insignificant. The flood definitely screwed up my teams since i couldnt scout preseason and had to autodraft.

Tough situation, but the rules voted on have to be what you go by. I'd hope cooler heads would prevail over the offseason, but it's not the end of the world if a guy leaves because an error didn't go his way.
Not in favor of the vote of the other members, the rule was voted on already and agreed to.

Yeah, admit you fricked up and apologize.
Hopefully they are understanding of the situation.
Either
1-The rule that was voted on has to be followed
2-you proceed to a vote. If they want to keep it like it's been all year, you have to refund the other guy if he wants a refund.
IMO
