Just got to 10.5 sacks on the year with 3 games to go.

Didnt the Vikings say something to the effect of, "he had no fundamentals coming out of LSU"?

as long as the talent is already in place and developed and as long as he doesn't have to recruit, Chavis is a decent coordinator

Pretty sure Brick Haley is more to blame than Chavis.

He told the Vikings that he was instructed to either play safe or attack the qb, and that was about it. He had no formal technical knowledge of defensive moves.

The staff begged Hunter to come back for another year to be further developed. He was very very raw. He wanted nothing of the sort. He is a baller now, bigtime. Hindsight = he was going to be a baller either way, but by declaring early, he cost himself draft stock and money. That's all, and I'm happy for his current success.

he was very young while at LSU and was the youngest player in the NFL his rookie year by a decent amount if i recall. i think this is a young player maturing and coming into his own.

That article on him was depressing, the one where the coach asked him what LSU taught him and it was basically jack shite. They basically had to build him from scratch. Just goes to show the potential he has considering he's behind other players in terms of technical experience.

Amazed me how a guy that was so thin in college played the run so well. Equally as amazing was how he was never taught a single pass rushing move and how he and anthony Johnson had no clue how to use their hands while rushing the passer.

Not surprised. I think that with few exceptions pro coaches are vastly superior.

Well Chavis's D at A&M hasn't been special. I would rather have Aranda. It's not even close

Said when he was coming out that he'd be a better NFL player than college.

Had all the tools and more.

So happy for the young man.

I also feel the same applies to Lewis Neal and Malachi Dupre.

Aside from completely shutting down his side of the field against the run and having over 70 tackles,13 tfl,1.5 sacks,6 pass defended,1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery , yeah he did nothing.

Athletes pick up fundamentals quickly in the NFL or they are 2 and done. Sounds like The Vikings coached him up.
