Wait until at least halfway through college to reward a good kid with a new car.
Our daughter is getting our 2003 Expedition ... it was my mother in laws; we bought it with literally NO miles on it from her. Then I got a new car when our son started driving and HE got the Expedition. He recently bought a "new to him Honda Accord" and SHE'S getting the Expedition.
She's not real happy and that's just too bad. It's still safe and reliable and she's not going more than 5-10 miles in any one direction really. She's a sophomore in high school and will drive it for at least a while .. she'll be safe. Now, I just hope she doesn't hit anyone else!
