He played for the most successful, and most storied franchise in the history of the NBA. The great players they've had, and many of whom are in the HOF, he is probaby #1 or #2 on that list depending on whether or not you think he's better than Bill Russell.

If anything he's underrated, most people have him near the bottom of their all-time top 10 lists. A very easy argument can be made that he's in the top 5 ever.
Dude was GREAT in every phase of the game. I'm not sure anyone has ever combined as versatile an offensive and defensive skill set into one player. Imagine combining the offensive game of Dirk Nowitzki with the defense of Draymond Green and then making him a better passer than both. That was Larry Bird.
