3 key stats to this loss

1) Penalties Lions 6-39yds. Saints 10-83
Lions 3 1st downs by penalty. Saints 1 1st by penalty.
If you give your opponent 3 unearned 1st downs and 83 free yds. Penalties are drive killers if you are on offense and drive extenders if you are on defense. This team is not good enough to afford 10 penalties to any other team.
2)Lions- 42 pass att. 23 rush att.
Saints 44 pass att. 12 rush att.
No balance on the offense. We were in this game
up to the last 5 minutes. Which leads us to....
3) Time of possession
Lions 36:52
Saints23:08
We gave them almost a whole free quarter of a game to beat us. These were areas we should have been able to control and we didn't. We beat ourselves again.

Deserved penalties you mean. Officiating was very questionable in the game.

Lions 6 penalties for 39 yards.
Saints 10 penalties for 83 yards.
And when the refs allow the Saints' opponent's offensive line to hold and the opponent's secondary is allowed to hold and interfere with Saints WR's, game over.
