quote:Of course.
There are massive differences in talent in each draft class.
quote:No, but since this is the average for each draft position across 20 season, we can say ON AVERAGE the higher pick is more talented and has better performance.
So saying something like Oladipo is the number 2 pick doesn't necessarily mean he is more "talented" than someone who was drafted later a different year.
And of course, there will be some positions that perform better than the preceding position (Pick 3 in this case is better than 2), but the trend is clear.

He's not leading his team to wins(ie loser) James Harden took a team with Asik as the 3rd best player to the playoffs in the West. Second best player was second year Parsons. Current Jrue Holiday > 2nd year Parsons.

OK. I can link stupidly early shite too that doesn't mean much.

From a week ago, odds to win MVP. Hey look, AD at 8th, with others on the list that aren't on the one you linked.
Don't tell me he doesn't belong in the conversation. If he starts getting more assists, like he has lately, and finishes the season with a top 10 all time PER, he'll finish in the top 3 with ease.
it should be Westbrook right now far and away in the lead, Harden far and away ahead of everyone else, then a bunch of people like AD, Durant, CP3, Lebron, Kawhi, Lilliard, Curry, people that wont' likely win unless the top 2 get hurt or one from this pack starts doing something amazing. AD is the only one from there that has that chance since his team is the only one that can drastically improve record wise.

There will never be a top 3 MVP finisher from a 30 win team.
Since 1985 MVP has come from a non top 2-seed twice. Westbrook will Not win it when okc finishes as 7 seed. Wins matter.

in all fairness to AD during most of his tenor with the Pelicans the 2nd - 5th best players are usually hurt and not playing.
the one season that everybody was somewhat healthy he made the playoffs.
We just got Holiday back and we are 5-3 in games with Holiday.

Pels only made the playoffs bc durant was hurt for the whole year.

No they actually made the playoff because of the last second Shot AD made to win a game against OKC.
Saying the only reason the Pelicans made the playoffs is because Durant was hurt is such a cop out
That is like saying the only Reason the Rockets won back to back championships is because Jordan retired.

you don't make or miss the playoffs in the 50th game of the season.
Posted on 12/6/16 at 2:46 pm to dabigfella
So the refs sent him to the foul line close to 20 times
Sounds like the same NBA I stopped caring about.

actually you do. At the time no but when it was to make the playoffs that win was very important.
Every game counts and when it is all said and done game 1, game 50, and game 70 all play a very important role in determining the playoffs

He sure as shite isn't leading them to losses. They would be lucky to have 1 victory this year without him.

Harden took a team with Asik as the 3rd best player to the playoffs in the West.
First of all, Asik averaged a double double that year, and played all 82 games. No one has seen that Asik again, ever. 6 players on that team that played over 15 minutes a game shot over 37% from three that year. When guys are knocking down open 3's, makes it a whole lot easier for that superstar to lead his teams to victories. That team shot 37% from three that year as a team. The D-League Pelicans are shooting 31% as a team this year, and I believe they have taken more wide open 3's than any other team this year.

Parsons played more games in that one year than Jrue has played for us in the last 2 years since we acquired him.

No one has seen that asik bc harden made asik the player he was. Harden makes his teammates better. Davis doesn't.

That is just a dumb statement. Harden is a lead with the ball in his hands at least 80% of the game. He should be making the players around him better.

A team with best player Harden doesn't know what a losing season looks like bc Harden makes his teammates better. A team with Davis as best player is a perennial loser bc Davis being on the squad doesn't make his teammates better. Plain to see who is the better player and or more MVP like.

Harden did nothing to make Asik better. No one can make him better. his only job is to play defense and hustle. he doesn't do that anymore b/c he's full of fettuccini alfredo.
AD can't make these losers hit the open 3's he gives them every game b/c he's tripled team constantly.
As I've pointed out to you twice now, Harden's team mates, despite not being high profile players all the time, hit their open 3's that Harden creates at a very high percentage. Davis' teammates airball and brick open 3's regularly.
This year:
Wide open three's (6+ft)
Rockets 42.9% at 14pg
Pelicans 36.9% at 11pg
Thunder 34.7% at 12pg
Open 3's (4-6ft)
Rockets 35.6% at 15pg
Pelicans 29.4% at 11pg (good for 3rd to last)
Thunder 34.1% at 10pg
When you look at shooting with someone with 4 ft from you, the Pelicans take the least amount of 3's in the NBA, while the Rockets take the most.

So AD does not make any of his teammates better? At all?

So you think if Harden and AD switch places, the Rockets couldn't make the playoffs, and the Pels would? You're retarded if you believe that. The last 4 rockets coaches that were fired run circles around the arse hat that is Gentry. AD has had no help whatsoever, not from his team mates, not from his coaches, not from his GM.

Gordon EFG% is higher this year than any year playing alongside Davis. Andersons was also higher than any year alongside Davis up until an off night last night. Harden just makes guys better.
