Seeing this year's invitees to NY for the Heisman just reiterates Fournette's snub last year. An incredible year was unfairly defined by one game.

This year's invitees include a good defensive player and a receiver in a Big 12 offense. Had Fournette stayed healthy this year, he would have certainly at least made the trip to NYC.

You seem kind of obsessed with New York.

He didn't even lead the team in rushing this year.

Read the OP, don't even have to read it closely just read it in general.

Had he been healthy for 11 games he gets an invite. That is all that's being implied.

There's no such thing as invite "snubs"

The voters vote, and the top finalists go depending on whether they got a decent chunk of votes or not.

Only those who received a decent chunk of points get invited.

Last year there were 3 players that sucked up nearly 100% of the points, no points for anyone else = no invites for anyone else.

When the field is more wide open, you see more finalists because ballots are more diverse.

Heisman is hands down the most antiquated and overrated award in sports. Never goes to the "best player in college football."

First off, it goes to the "most outstanding" player, not the "best"

Also, never is a strong word. It very often DOES go to the best player.

Jameis Winston, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Reggie Bush, Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson, Hershel Walker, OJ Simpson

names like that sound familiar? It's pretty clear the best player for that season does indeed win it a fair amount of the time.

But it certainly sometimes doesn't.

Any award you win by vote has a ton of politics involved.

No...It almost always goes to the QB or RB with the flashiest stats. Essentially, all other positions need not apply.

1960 Joe Bellino Navy RB Sr.
1961 Ernie Davis Syracuse RB Sr.
1962 Terry Baker Oregon State QB Sr.
1963 Roger Staubach Navy QB Jr.
1964 John Huarte Notre Dame QB Sr.
1965 Mike Garrett USC RB Sr.
1966 Steve Spurrier Florida QB Sr.
1967 Gary Beban UCLA QB Sr.
1968 O.J. Simpson USC RB Sr.
1969 Steve Owens Oklahoma FB Sr.
1970 Jim Plunkett Stanford QB Sr.
1971 Pat Sullivan Auburn QB Sr.

1972 Johnny Rodgers Nebraska WR Sr.
1973 John Cappelletti Penn State RB Sr.
1974 Archie Griffin Ohio State RB Jr.
1975 Archie Griffin Ohio State RB Sr.
1976 Tony Dorsett Pittsburgh RB Sr.
1977 Earl Campbell Texas RB Sr.
1978 Billy Sims Oklahoma RB Jr.
1979 Charles White USC RB Sr.
1980 George Rogers South Carolina RB Sr.
1981 Marcus Allen USC RB Sr.
1982 Herschel Walker Georgia RB Jr.
1983 Mike Rozier Nebraska RB Sr.
1984 Doug Flutie Boston College QB Sr.
1985 Bo Jackson Auburn RB Sr.
1986 Vinny Testaverde Miami (Fla.) QB Sr.

1987 Tim Brown Notre Dame WR Sr.
1988 Barry Sanders Oklahoma State RB Jr.
1989 Andre Ware Houston QB Jr.
1990 Ty Detmer Brigham Young QB Jr.

1991 Desmond Howard Michigan WR Jr.
1992 Gino Torretta Miami (Fla.) QB Sr.
1993 Charlie Ward Florida State QB Sr.
1994 Rashaan Salaam Colorado RB Jr.
1995 Eddie George Ohio State RB Sr.
1996 Danny Wuerffel Florida QB Sr.

1997 Charles Woodson Michigan CB Jr.
1998 Ricky Williams Texas RB Sr.
1999 Ron Dayne Wisconsin RB Sr.
2000 Chris Weinke Florida State QB Sr.
2001 Eric Crouch Nebraska QB Sr.
2002 Carson Palmer USC QB Sr.
2003 Jason White Oklahoma QB Jr.
2004 Matt Leinart USC QB Jr.
2006 Troy Smith Ohio State QB Sr.
2007 Tim Tebow Florida QB So.
2008 Sam Bradford Oklahoma QB So.
2009 Mark Ingram Alabama RB So.
2010 Cam Newton Auburn QB Jr.
2011 Robert Griffin III Baylor University QB Jr.
2012 Johnny Manziel Texas A&M QB Fr.
2013 Jameis Winston Florida State QB Fr.
2014 Marcus Mariota Oregon QB Jr.
2015 Derrick Henry Alabama RB Jr.

Since 1960, only FOUR non RB or QB's have won the award. And while Woodson was listed as a CB, he won the award for his return game as much as he did for anything he did on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm not saying I would not have loved for Fournette to have won it, but it's simply a glamor award given to the offensive player with the gaudiest stats or the biggest hype machine. if it really was about the most outstanding player, would see more defensive players actually not just going to NYC, but winning it.

He should have won it year - anyone who watched could see he was the "most outstanding".

Not only do you need to be a RB or QB to have a prayer, but you also need to be the most important offensive player on a team making a national title run. Even had LF7 stayed healthy, there's no way he gets it playing on a four-loss team.

That trophy has nothing to do with being the most outstanding player in the country unless you also happen to play for the most outstanding team in the country.

Wrong. Lamar Jackson is going to win it and he's the QB of a 3 loss team. Had Fournette stayed healthy and put up 1,500 yards, he runs away with it this year.
