guess i was confused about this website(term4sale)....
i input my information and what i was looking for, liked the NY life quote the most and selected it
yesterday i received a bunch of companies not NY life.
am i missing something?

I think they are just forwarding you information for specific brokers, who can offer you multiple companies' policies. So that broker most likely can get you that New York Life policy, they just aren't a New York life agent.
