Time for teams to start leaving conferences?

Games aren't played on paper dude. 63-20 head to head. You can't ignore what actually happened before our very eyes for what some nerds say should've happened
Silly argument that cites only one game out of the 24 the two combined to play. The full schedule indicates that FSU was better than UL, and on-field game results are the appropriate evidence. It isn't a one game season. You're behind the curve.

That's always been the case.

Conference championships, head-to-head record, common opponents, etc. all come into play if the résumés are more or less equal.

To me, it gets a bit hairy when the head-to-head result is so big. Florida State has a better résumé than Louisville, sure. Not denying that. But if one team absolutely slaughters the other team on the field, we're supposed to just completely ignore that unless they have basically equal resumés? I just don't really like that part of the criteria.

If it was like 24-21, I could see your point. OSU is better than penn state, but lost.

43 points is not an accident.
Then why couldn't UL glean a better record against a weaker schedule?

I think also that FSU got better as the season went on while Louisville got worse. If they replayed that game right now on a neutral field it would be much much closer.

63-20. Are you really that fricking dense? You can't ignore that when the spread is 43 points. Maybe you can disregard the results of a close game, but that game was over in the first quarter and FSU looked like a high school team.

Not the case. UL is four spots behind FSU in the massey composite. Their strong head-to-head win over FSU must have been impressive enough to bump UL up three spots.

Yes, I'll say it: The fact that UL is one spot behind FSU is proof that UL is being rewarded for their demolition of the Seminoles.

1-game argument.

Sorry. Need more if you wanna discuss this with me. Do your homework.

Louisville also had a 7-1 ACC record to FSU's 5-3 record. Look, we blew it. All we had to do was show up and beat UK. We didn't so that's that.

However, I have a problem with the committee when they had Clemson ranked 4th and us 5th the week after them losing to Pittsburgh. The Chairman said Clemson was ahead of us because of the H2H matchup. They don't follow it's own guidelines

I love how the one thing people are arguing tonight is two teams with 0% chance to make the playoffs

If there is EVEN A SLIGHT justification for having a harbaugh-saban-meyer playoff, the committee will run with it.

No matter how you feel, it's about ratings and $$$ in the long run.

If Washington loses and the committee takes two teams from the same conference when neither made the title game, how will that look?

This is an uninformed opinion. At the time Clemson lost to Pittsburgh, they had the highest SOS in the country compared to UL's mediocre SOS. There was no metric that had UL ahead of Clemson; most metrics today have FSU at least four spots ahead of UL.

Sorry, but everything is perfectly consistent and fair here.

With a Washington and Clemson loss this weekend, we could possibly see 3 Big 10 schools in the playoffs.

#2 Ohio State
#5 Michigan
#6 Wisconsin/ #7 Penn St. Winner

I wouldn't mind a playoff of Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and Michigan at all.

Now I am hardcore cheering for Washington to lose.
