This shite is what killed the AP polls and BCS

Ranking Michigan over OSU

quote:

“Yes, I voted Michigan higher than Ohio State. The Wolverines essentially outplayed their arch rival on the road and I don’t think the football reached the necessary 15-yard line on J.T. Barrett’s fourth-down run in double overtime. As that was the game-decided play, I appointed myself as the replay official and deemed Michigan the winner. Now, if only the College Football Playoff selection committee would do the same.”

That's not bad logic...

I still refuse to acknowledge that the Soviets beat USA in basketball at the 1972 Olympics.

I don't agree with him, but that's not bad logic.

The officials with a better view of the play thought otherwise. The AP writer is being a little bitch.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with Michigan gaining 5 yards in the 4th quarter with 3 separate 3 and outs.

So he doesn't "think" he got the first down, and gave Michigan the win by default.

Why wouldn't Michigan move up to second then?

First of all, it was a first down.
Secondly, you don't get to change the outcome of the game after the facts have been presented, and Michigan has another mark in the lost column from this game.

and third, if that's his rational, then shouldn't Okie State be ranked higher than 10th in his poll since they only have 1 loss?

How is this logic any different than what OSU fans want the committee to do with respect to Penn State?

College Football writers have this misplaced notion that they should have major influence on the sport. Whether it be recruiting or wanting a seat at the CFP Committee table, they always feel like they should play a part in the outcome. This further proves that.

Nice revisionist history.

AP pulled out because they didn't want to have to vote for the champ who the BCS said was champ. The Coaches poll voters became obligated to vote one way - AP wanted to vote their conscience not what some formula says they should vote.

Even if it was the right call, if it takes a 4th down play where you barely get the first, in double over time, at home.... after the opponents drive was stopped after an obvious PI no call.... yea, I think you can consider Michigan the better team on a neutral field.

And ranking Michigan over OSU is not even the weirdest ranking or poll.

This is Colin Cowherd:

1.Bama 2.USC 3.OSU 4.Mich.

The problem with his rant is that OSU did get the first down. It's pretty clear the ball passed the line to gain on review. An objective look at the play bears that out.
