1. Texas does not have an AD in place
2. LSU is ready to win next year, Texas needs some rebuilding
3. SEC > Big XII
4. Dave Aranda was his roommate in college, still friends today
5. LSU, at this point in time, is a better program than Texas

LSU has way more talent. You get to measure yourself against the best every year and a chance to become a legend by dethroning Saban. Easier to recruit because of the instate infrastructure already established. Not quite as toxic a booster situation at Texas.

Not to mention Texas hasn't even fired their coach yet and has yet to give him an official offer.

All that being said Texas certainly has more than its own share of pros, and he probably does prefer that job if he can get it on his terms. But it's not absurd that someone would view the two as equal or lsu as better

What would keep him hiring Aranda away from LSU to join him in Texas?

I don't agree with this. Texas will and should win 10 games next year.

Texas has 18 returning starters not really a rebuilding year. High expectations for whoever is the coach
