Architecture & Night Life?
Paris
Amsterdam
London
Rome
Athens
Madrid
Barcelona
Dublin
Munich
in no particular order come to mind.
If I had two weeks I'd fly or take the train between three or four of them.
The Chunnel train (the Eurostar going from Paris to/from London or Brussels) is an option, you avoid losing time to & fro airports but it is more expensive than flying.
Also, the French & Spanish rail systems are fast, those three trains (Eurostar, Ave, SNCF) would be the only ones I used rather than flying because they go from City Centers to City Centers. They are more expensive but to me my vacation time is worth it
Good luck!

All great ideas. And agree with the four cities above. We were thinking all of those for sure and Italy. Any ideas on resources for hostels? I can't for the life of me remember who posted some kind of guide for hostels and other budget-friendly stuff to do throughout the continent.

I don't know what some of these places are like now, but many moons ago I thought Barcelona had the best night life. I wonder if that is still the case.
Hostel wise, my favorite was in Amsterdam. For what it's worth this was when there were 2 germanies, and no Slovakia.
