If you had been the AD at tOSU you'd have passed on Tressel.
Tressel was already in the state of Ohio, in his last 12 years at Youngstown he made the DII playoff 9 times and won the NC 4 times.

thats not comparable to fleck and LSU in any way.

You would have said "you don't hire a fcs coach at Ohio State. When was the last time an fcs coach got hired at a big program, blah, blah, blah."

Fleck is a game changing kind of a hire, he really is.

No, but he was HC at Utah before going to UF, and Utah was in the Mountain West Conference at the time.

Agree. I would want him over all others not named Herman or Fisher.

Did anyone have a issue with hiring a 34 year old Bo rein in 1980?

While this is a valid point, it should also be noted that 1980 was almost 40 years ago and LSU has different expectations now, as do most SEC schools now days.

You sound like a millenial. This explains your illogical posts.

I'm tentatively climbing aboard the fleck hype train. This program needs a change of culture badly. What do we have to lose anyway?

Neither was the Mountain West. But the guy that left Utah and went on to Fla did ok for himself, no?

Fleck would be a god damn disaster, your obsession with him doesn't surprise me though.

reality is no conference is big time football compared to the sec. it's the sec and then everyone else.

Am I wrong to see a little Butch Jones in Fleck?

I hope he lands at Purdue assuming he doesn't get one of the big jobs

I think he's like a combination of belichick and Saban. Except he doesn't cheat and he's not a midget

Regardless of who the coach is next season will be difficult just from a standpoint of player turnover.
This team could very well lose Thursday to A&M and limp into a weak bowl game with no motivation.
Fisher and Herman could both be disasters. There are no guarantees.
I'm glad Miles is gone and Orgeron won't be retained as head coach and there is an off season coming up to wash away the stain of poor coaching the last five seasons.

So, that's not what you said. Meyer could have gone from Bowling Green to UF and done the same. If you've got IT, you've got IT.
