I feel when she was writing the books she only had a rudimentary idea of scoring in sports. She was probably thinking of soccer and how most of the world is familair with games involving getting balls in a goal.

She then probably remembered that Americans favored higher scoring games and made the points higher to appeal to a broad book buying market. She then also wanted to make a built in trump card. A hard to catch snitch that ends the game and gives you 150 points. Unless the other team has 16 goals to your 0 you automatically win. It's just a silly idea. You would then play the game with the team going for the snitch.

I agree quidditch scoring was out there, but it was a game where kids put their lives on the line just to play. Easily the oddest most dangerous game conceived.

Sorry, but Quidditch is simply a story telling device to make Harry more important. No way in hell would Football have considered giveing a player who not only scores 45 points with one action, but also ends the game. 999 times out of 1000, the guy who catches Snitch wins the game, which makes everyone else pointless. That's not how a sport works.

Compare Pro-Bending from the Legend of Korra. It makes total sense and from someone who understands sports. It's not like it the firebender hits someone it wins the game. Quidditch is bullshite.
