Remind me again. How much was Texas "in play"?

it trended big time dem. Tarrant county was within single digits. Rommey won tarrant county by over 40 points.
Tarrant county should never ever be that close. ever.

Thank god Trump won and GOP kept congress because democrats are fighting a war of attrition to turn Texas blue with illegals everywhere and it would've been over for conservatives everywhere in America.

My county (Bexar) failed me, though

Man, if we just knew how close the vote actually was...
Seems like we could find that kind of information somewhere.

Are you denying that the reluctance of Democrats to do anything meaningful about immigration (or maintaining integrity of our electoral process) has everything to do with boosting Democrat voters in some districts?

Bexar county has been failing us for awhile now. :(

and it would've been over for conservatives everywhere in America.
In other words, politics has an ebb and flow, and most people are fluid with their beliefs. I personally think the cyclical nature is closer to a net positive anyways.
So it's never "over:"

Yep. Notice how the random "in play" states the dems claimed have sanctuary cities strategically placed
Surely this is old news on here but it pisses me off thinking how fricked the country would be had trump not win

It should scare the shite out of you how much it was "in play." Trump basically won Texas with the same margin he won Ohio. That is a traditional swing state. The day Texas becomes a swing state we're fricked.

My anecdotal .02 cents...
Not at all in play. Trump went hard and personal at an extremely popular conservative Texas senator. Many conservative friends I know that helped fight to carry the Texas primary for Cruz either went 3rd party or sat out "knowing Texas would go for Trump". Their words not mine. Once these Texas conservatives see Trump as man of his word and actions the Texas conservative brand will reunite. It more divided around here than ppl wanted to admit, but these friends I speak of are coming around in droves. Again Texas conservatives are a different brand IMO, give it time.
Cruz and Trump coming together as patriots to bury the hatchet gives me hope that Texas will have an even wider gap in the next election cycle. But what this last election showed for the democrats... Don't assume any state is safe

It's not just immigrants growing in Texas. A number of California's are moving to the hill country between San Antonio and Austin. They are driving up the cost of living in those areas and brining in the same beliefs that is destroying California. A lot have left California because of the cost of living there and other problems and they are now trying to creat the same problem in Texas. They are like a virus.

Texas was actually closer than Iowa was, which is hard to believe.

The last governor's race was 20 points.
The "demographics" didn't change that much in 2 years.
The same traits that won Ohio cost Trump in TX. A typical Republican could have won TX by 15+% and lost the election.

I said Texas wasn't that much in play the whole election. I was wrong that she wouldn't break 41%.
I will say that out of my conservative group of friends..... there was a LOT of McMuffin support. I think a lot of people just broke against Trump. My CD and State Rep still won huge.
Eliminate illegal immigrant voting and the only counties that will ever go blue are Travis, El Paso, Dallas, Cameron, and Hildalgo.
Dallas and Travis Counties are lost forever I'm afraid. Both for different reasons.
Harris and Bexar are salvageable.

Texas is its own worst enemy at this point as far as the state's Republican Party goes. They've nominated (and successfully elected) some absolute turds over the last decade or so, and now they're just starting to feel the backlash as the state is urbanizing and a large number of independents are beginning to vote Other or Democrat.

Yes. Yes we have.
My state rep became a national GD embarrassment. I don't actively campaign for anybody but I went hard against her. Donated to her primary opponent. I've never donated before and I don't plan to ever again but she was a cancer.
