How to find your happy median between being happy and amount of money you make?

Im sure many have/are in the same situation Im in now. I worked my way up to a very well paying career over the course of 8yrs with the same company. But Ive gotten to the point that Im just miserable at work now. I work super long hours (leave at 530am and get home around 7-8) and barely see my kids now because they are typically in bed for 8. Im stuck in a tough spot where I know I could take a sizable paycut and we would be ok financially, but how would prospective employers typically look at that? Would they think something is wrong or that Im not very motivated that Im willing to take about a third of a paycut to be happier and be able to be home at a normal time? I like the role Im in, and wouldnt mind staying in a similar type role, but damn I just want to be able to turn off my phone and not have to answer an email at any time of the night once I leave, pick up my daughter from dance class, or be able to go to their practice or ball game when that time comes.

What was your tipping point and how has it worked for you? I wont lie, I love the fact that we have been blessed financially but Im really at that point where money isnt everything.
