If you just want to do regular oil there's not muh cost savings, huge savings in synthetic. Most places charge $80-90 for synthetic changes instead of the $30-40 for regular. If you require more than 5 quarts most places charge you but I've never dealt with that never having a vehicle that did. You can get top of the line synthetic oil and filter for $40. So yes, I save $50 by doing the oil myself.

It's also IMO a good thing to take 30 minutes to look your vehicle over on your own every 3-4 months or whatever you do your oil. It's not that I don't trust the other guys as much as I like to take the time to look it over myself and that's a great time to do it.

Get yourself some of those drive up jacks for $50, you can change your oil in 15 minutes easy. It really takes me longer to change it then it does to drive somewhere. Time wise it's the same.

Takes me longer to reset the computer than to change the oil on my wife's SUV.

Haven't done it yet on my truck because it's so new but I'm sure I'll get there eventually.
