This is what happens when kids are given participation trophies

People can no longer handle losing or failure. This is the generation that got a trophy just for showing up. They don't know how to pick themselves up after a defeat and have no resolve to make themselves better. All they can do is bitch a moan and cry to try and get their way. It's worked for the last 8 years, and now I hope that crap is over. Let's get back to winning for our hard work and merits. /rant

I totally agree. America wasn't built on participation

100 % accurate. I see it all the time with youth sports. All kids are required to play a certain amount of time, we have playoffs for the losing teams and everyone gets a trophy. It's a fairy tale that is being sold to these kids. It's not the real world. They never learn that winning takes effort and hard work and that daddy can't help you all the time. It's time to MAGA and it needs to start at all levels.

I got a participation trophy for voting Tuesday.
It's a Rodrigue blue dog.
Worth $5 on Ebay right now.

Me too. I got a "I voted" sticker

"I voted" = "My candidate should win"
"I didn't get what i want" = Riot, bitching, throwing tantrums

I tell family members quite regularly that though I am very successful, I've still lost more than I have won. Kids need to learn to lose.
Kids also need to realize they're special to their parents, but need to assume the outside world doesn't give a shite about them or their opinion in most cases.
Come and interview with me and bring the attitude of "always right" or "I'm special cause Mommy says so" and you'll hit the door. Nut up and take responsibility for yourself and your actions and work for something.

When I see their little socialist flags flying and hear their chants about taking the "fight" to the streets of America, all I can do is chuckle.
These are babies. These are people who do not know the cost of a real struggle. These are people who are afraid of guns and wilt at an unfriendly word.
The media are now asking "how will Trump build bridges with these angry young protesters?" Build a bridge?? Satisfy their demands?? HOW ABOUT HE IGNORES ALL 5000 OF YOU AND MOVES FORWARD WITH HIS AGENDA USING A REPUBLICAN CONGRESS AND SUPREME COURT?
Elections have consequences. Cry on, babies.

Agreed. Parents aren't preparing their children for failure, so when failure comes, they have no idea how to handle it.

For all you Hillary supporters.

That's exactly what these riots are - temper tantrums. These losers have the mentality of 3 year olds, so they react like three year olds.
Just a bunch of grown up brats.

I disagree, I coach baseball and kids learn to win or lose on the field. When I give trophies I talk to the kids about all of the things I seen in them that earned them a trophy for their season and their hard work. Kids just want to be recognized and it's great for the soul. In tball and youth baseball you don't have to give trophies or medals but watching their face light up and giving them praise makes it all worth it. Participation trophies are not the downfall of this country and its a silly assertion.

Praise for hard work is fine. However, there's way too many that get an award for just being there or awards are just made up so that everyone on the team gets one for something. It undermines hard work and dedication. We tell kids that failure is okay, which it is, but then they get an award for failing, which is not okay.

I'm just happy my child is out participating and not sitting at home on an iPad. I've been coaching youth sports since my oldest was 4 and now I'm coaching both of my boys. My oldest son plays 8u baseball and he's a black belt in tae Kwon do. My oldest son is also very hard on himself and loves to get praise. Athletics aren't something that comes natural to him so he has to work harder at it than most kids but he's an all star player because of that hard work. In the classroom he's exceptional. He's never made below a 95 and His reading level is near 7th grade and his math near 5th grade and he gets rewarded for that as a second grader because schools reward kids for academics however I do reward my child for his hardwork on the ball field and I know how much it means to him. Children a lot of times come from broken homes and the praise on the field is the only praise they get and they live for that stuff. Be happy kids are out of the house and actually involved.
