no you don't. washing machines beat the shite out of electronics..how else can they handle spinning 400lbs of wet clothes?
buy a whole house energy monitor instead that recognizes the 'washing machine' signature and get notified that way.

but why not have the washing maching send you an alert when it is done. Then you could yell at the wife for not unloading it once it is done.
