Would you say the same thing if Ensminger was named the interim and won out?

Sure, why not? We have a great recruiting staff even without miles. If we can continue to recruit, why not keep a staff that won out against this stiff off consecutive competition?

What is ridiculous is those who attribute an efficient and recently explosive offense to the DL coach who is now the HC on an interim basis.

WRONG. 100% wrong. The difference is having a coach that actually lets the people in place DO THEIR frickING JOB!

Even if we don't beat Bama but keep it close and are competitive, in my opinion that is a win for Caoch O.

Son we ain't giving out participation trophies out here. Moral victories mean nothing! Get a W on that night on the scoreboard, not in our hearts!

I'll say it again - if you want to keep Orgeron you absolutely, 100% must be in favor of keeping Ensminger as OC. They are inseparable.

However, we still have Arkansas, Florida, and A&M

I don't think they are Big enough games to just give him the job.

If he loses to Bama and otherwise wins out, it goes on his resume and he is in the hunt.

Arkansas and Florida are teams with real issues.
I said before that A&M and Bama are the only 2 teams that look like they can test us.

We shouldn't want a coach that just sits back and lets his coordinators do their jobs. We should want a coach that is a better coach and provides input that improves the product from the coordinator.

Zero input from a head coach is certainly better than input that makes things worse, but "has no involvement in offensive or defensive gameplan or playcalling" is not really something that should be considered a positive in a coaching prospect.

We LSU fans aren't known for logical thinking now are we.

Yep, which is proven by the fact that there are so many wanting O as permanent head coach,

Here is my opinion:

If LSU cannot land a high profile coach and has to drop down to second choices like Larry Fedora, then I think LSU should make Orgeron the head coach.

Really? saying that a guy has to have a demonstrated record of success worthy of the LSU job is NOT ridiculous. The problem with O is that in his 35 year career he has never earned the LSU job. Therefore, if he wants it he has to do something remarkable.

I would agree with your assessment if we were considering a coach who, in his past career, had shown himself to be deserving of the LSU job. Unfortunately, we're not.

If he stays competitive but loses he has to keep us from having a November fallout like years past. This team lost hope after our Bama defeats and our next coach needs to hold them together after a L. I don't think this will matter because we just may beat Bama.

You have to remember he is inheriting a very talented roster. He's doing what Miles should have but was incapable of due to atrocious playcalling. If he beats Bama, he proves himself unlike ever before and deserves the job.

Thats what i keep saying. Us playing this well is more of an indictment of miles than a plus for O.

I don't think he has to beat Bama to get the job. If he loses that game but wins every other, he's made a strong case.

But if he beats Bama, I think it is officially his job to lose.

It has absolutely nothing to do with a moral victory. We haven't been close to beating Bama the last couple years. They have manhandled us up front. I want to win the motherfricker as bad as anyone. But this one game against the No. 1 team in the country shouldn't be the make or break for Coach O. That's like telling an NFL coach if you don't beat Belichick you lose your job.
