First of all, Bama is playing on a whole other level than anyone right now. They have scored non offensive touchdowns in 9 straight games. One game should not be the deciding factor. Even if we don't beat Bama but keep it close and are competitive, in my opinion that is a win for Caoch O. It is going to take a complete effort from all the coaches and players to win this game. However, we still have Arkansas, Florida, and A&M that are big games for us. Let's hold judgement until after this 4 game stretch.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I agree. There should be zero scenario (other than winning the NC somehow) in which we hire Orgeron.

Beating this Bama team combined with winning the rest of the games on the schedule, it'd be awfully hard justifying hiring anybody else. And rightfully so. It's a gauntlet and the toughest final stretch for any team in college football.

I think winning the SEC and just getting into the playoffs does it

I don't think he HAS to win to keep the job. I think IF he beats them, he should get the job...barring a complete collapse after that.

Would you say the same thing if Ensminger was named the interim and won out?

He doesn't have to, but if he does its his unless he shits the bed down the stretch.

Beating Alabama is our way to achieving most of our goals. If he can't beat Bama this year, when would he be able to do it? Certainly not next year. Alabama would just continue to get stronger with the pick of the crop as far as recruiting. There would be doubts as to Coach O being able to get the job done. I say that is the most important job requirement.

You have to remember he is inheriting a very talented roster. He's doing what Miles should have but was incapable of due to atrocious playcalling. If he beats Bama, he proves himself unlike ever before and deserves the job.

If he wants to prove that he's a different coach than the guy who failed miserably at Old Miss, what better way???

Whether or not any want to admit it, his performance the last time he was a SEC HC, is an anchor around his neck as far as getting the LSU gig. imo

While I agree that beating Bama shouldn't be a Mandate, O has to do something "special" IMO to get the job.

Miles has lowered their expectations so much just being close is a win.

What is ridiculous is those who attribute an efficient and recently explosive offense to the DL coach who is now the HC on an interim basis.

The biggest change since Auburn is a reinvigorated team/staff, which Orgeron is great at doing but arguably would have happened with any interim once the staleness of Miles/Cam was gone, and a relatively unpredictable and explosive offense, which has very little to do with Orgeron and is mostly on Ensminger at this point. It is even more ridiculous that people want to keep Orgeron as long as he gets a top OC, when in reality his current OC is the guy most responsible for his interim success.
