How long have you been on Prozac. Anti-depressants take a few weeks to start working. They aren't happy pills that make you feel better right away. If it's been a month or two maybe ask your doctor about switching medicine.

Take a pill to make you happy...then keep on doing the things that make you feel depressed. That seems to be the answer for a large portion of America.

As much as people try to blow this off and make fun of it, it's true. I started reading the bible, daily devotionals and going to church. It helped a lot.

Everyone has their demons. As far as an anti-depressant,I take 40 mg of Celexa a day.I'm not depressed,I just can't sleep without it.
I taught myself to play acoustic guitar at age 40.15 years later I can learn to play any Song that I know the tune to.
Playing Music is like Meditation.
I get what your saying.Life does fly by.A week at a time.A month at a time.
It's better than the alternative,I believe.

Also, try smoking weed. It's not the gateway to hell most religious nuts try to convince you and it's much healthier than alcohol, pills, and anti-depressants..

I wish I found it that easy to believe

I didn't believe it would work either. But the combination of it all has helped me tremendously. I also go to a Church men's group meeting every once in awhile. That helped with just getting me out of the house, meeting new people and being comfortable meeting new people. I used to have serious social anxiety. I still do to an extent. The combination of everything has helped me be more happy with myself and not be as much of a miserable, sarcastic arse.

What I've done personally, is decided to eliminate all the major and minor negative things in my life. I've stopped watching the news because all it is is negativity that none of us have any control over except for that one vote we have ever 4 years. I've stopped listening to angry/depressing music. I make a conscious effort to smile more because smiling releases endorphins whether the smile is real or not. I personally found solace in deciding not to believe in God. Coming to grips with the reality that the only help I've ever gotten is from my family and a few friends here and there. And that if I want something to happen, I need to get off my arse and make it happen. Praying, hoping, and wishing does nothing. It's unproductive and leads people to failure and disappointment.
ETA: Have an unequivocal belief in yourself. Have faith in you. Realize that no one knows what you are fully capable if but you. You have way more power over your world than you realize and it all starts with that first decision to do something. Life's just a big series of decisions that you get to make.

Try to reevaluate your life and figure out exactly what you aren't happy with. Once you do that, make changes. Idk if you are suicidal, but it would be wise not let your depression go untreated.

I just feel like life is kinda pointless. Get up, work, come home, repeat. I got money. A family.
Sounds like you have a lot to be thankful for.....
You could be: out of work/poor, never found someone to love and share your life with, no children to love and who love you.
The purpose of life is what you make of it. You seem very fortunate. Perhaps part of your purpose is helping those less fortunate than yourself.

High doses of Vitamin D and Vitamin B, pill form. Vitamin D really helps if you don't get enough sunlight, especially in the winter. That's why some people get seasonal depression.

I have a hard time believing as well. I believe there is a higher power. But not what's preached on Sunday morning. Fighting with my wife about that makes it worse.

I don't really get depressed but I am in existential crisis mode like 24/7

It helps to find the right style of preacher for your beliefs. I can't stand the "You're gonna burn in hell if you drink a beer." hell-fire and brimstone type of preacher that yells all the time.
The Pastor at the church I go to now is laid back and readily admits that we're all messed up, we're just trying to help each other get through life.

The biggest help is knowing a lot of people feel that way. You're not suffering alone.
What helped me while I was sick is backing up and looking at how much worse others have it.
I got sent to have scans run at Methodist in Houston. When I got there they had no space for me. They offered me an open spot in Texas Children's for their machine to save me a trip back from lake Charles.
A trip into Texas Children's radiology department is the most sobering experience I've ever had. To this day i can recall the entire day's events and can sit and cry my fricking eyes out. I went in pissed off and mad and full of self pity of being sick, blah blah, etc...
Unbelievable heartbreak. Really changed a lot of my views that day.
You must find a hobby and break the monotony of life. Something to step back and be excited over again. Excersising really helps. I myself love to play basketball (I'm 34) and try to whenever I can. I don't get to hunt or fish anymore and no place to ride four wheelers or anything unused to love.
I find getting lost in nature to recenter yourself. Go tent camping. Make a fire. Bring the kids. Turn off the phone. Exist with your maker. Find him again.

I have a little bit of social anxiety and for no reason at all. I just don't want to meet new people idk why. I have anxiety to the point that my hands and feet sweat all the time. I fricking hate it and don't know how to fix it. That's one thing in my life that bothers the frick out of me and makes me depressed
