Why decline?
I'm guessing they wanted him to take a day or two off work from his real job, and that job pays significantly more than $100/day. Not sure why declining the offer was funny to him. Most people would jump on such an unique opportunity.

Asked me last week if I wanted to be in the movie with my boat when I was coming back into the boat ramp. Said it pays $100 per day.
Confused about the 100$ a day. I know for a fact they can just use your property for a 3-5 hours and get 1,500$ or so. At least in new orleans.

They must just be paying him as an extra which is BS if his boat is being used as well. No way I would hang out all day sitting in my boat for $100. Hell, if it involved motoring back and forth you could burn the $100 up in fuel.

What area of Lanier do you live on?
South end. Flowery Branch. They have a few different sets there shooting. I am about to head out on the lake this morning. I will try and take a few pictures of them as I go by. They are using the name "Byrde" on all the signs along the streets.
As for why I declined, Not being a dick but I dont see the reasoning to not guide for $400-$450 a day to sit around and make $100 a day. Just basic economics
I have to say that I am impressed with the amount of gear and shite it takes to do this. There are trucks and people every with amazing amounts of lights, gear, booms, cameras, etc. I have talked to them a few different times at the boat ramp. I put in there everyday.
I will try and get some pictures today.

A couple pictures I took this morning. If you watch the series, look for this dock. I am not sure what they shot around it but they were there about 5 days. Hundreds of people on and around the dock, tons of cameras and props.. The entire yard behind the dock was full of stuff. They also had about 5 boats in and around the dock.
This is the main area they are shooting. This is a huge point coming out into the lake. It is a area of old campgrounds owned by the Corps of Engineers. They allowed the crew to shoot there. They brought in these trailers, campers, dock, old boats, etc. There was nothing there to start with. Behind this set, there are at least 100 RV's and motorhomes where people are staying. Looks like some kind of White Trash living.
Not sure what "Byrde" has to do with the movie but these signs are everywhere routing traffic to the sets.

[quote]Laura Linney and Jason Bateman to star in Netflix series Ozark
Netflix has ordered Ozark, a 10-episode first season, one-hour drama, from Media Rights Capital, starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. Bateman also serves as an executive producer and director on the Netflix series.
Grounded in dark reality, this money-centric present day story revolves around financial planner Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Bird (Laura Linney) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. Rather than the familiar skyscrapers and trading floors, Ozark explores capitalism, family dynamics, and survival through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans. The Netflix series will premiere worldwide in 2017.

Yeah, but if he's already out there fishing anyways, why not take a free $100 to be in the background doing what would be done if the filming wasn't going on?
I think OP is ugly and too ashamed of his looks.

So you are saying I should give up $450 a day guiding on the lake to make $100 a day being shot in the back ground of a series? I would not want to do your taxes

Possibly... But I can do simple math

Simple math is one thing but personally I think that opportunity would be the $350 spread.

I don't keep up with what you do irl. The last check I wrote to the irs was for a little over $16,000. Now that I've been reminded of my taxes..

I work in Afghanistan so as long as I am out of the US for 330 days a year the first $100,800.00 I make is tax-free. Whatever I make above that amount is taxed at the rate of my full salary.
Plan on buying a house and new car outright in cash after I am done over here and be retired in 7 years at the age of 50.
