King Phiilip of France was heavily in-debt to the greatest banking power in the world, the Templar Knights due to his war with the. English. They had branches all across Europe and Asia and even had asset management products!

The King arrested all the Tenplars in France on October 13, 1307 and got all of his buddy kings to do the same. They tortured the Templars to co fess that they spit on the cross and that they worshiped a decapitated head. Many were burned alive and most of the order was demolished.

After years of research we have found that it appears an ancestor of mine was one of the last burned alive for refusing to confess.

The History channel is going to have a new show called Knightfall that will be based on the Templars in France. From the previews, it looks like it'll be their new Vikings.
