Put one on hold earlier today, but I've been reading about them since doing so, and I'm seeing a lot of people saying the quality has fallen a bit.

Just wondering what the OB has to say.

Had three and all were great guns.

Wish I wouldn't have sold a y of them, but I have gun add.

They blow. Mostly MIM parts at that price point is nuts. Finishes get ruined easily. Also, they sell a close to $1500 gun that has a plastic mainspring housing.

I love them. I just picked up my second one as a host for my .45 can. I have never had a problem with either of mine. They both shoot great. Here's is my newest I picked up last week

I have a Kimber Warrior. I don't like it.

Get a Colt or a Springfield. The TRP is a fantastic gun.

I can't give any personal experience with longevity and resistance to corrosion, but I've always found Kimbers to have excellent finishes and some really cool low-profile sights. Now, I wouldn't grab a Kimber as my first option for a defensive handgun for those reasons but it makes for a nice recreational gun.

My biggest beef with Kimber is that all of their commander and officer sized guns have bushingless barrels. Doing this does allow a slightly heavier barrel to handle the hot stuff but it also makes it a requirement to have a tool to capture the spring to take the gun down. I'm not a fan of that at all.

I bought an all black one like this about 8 months ago:

It's been a good gun, didn't like defense rounds with the standard Kimber Mags it came with, but I bought a few Wilson Combat mags and it runs fine.

Got it for about $650 on Gunbroker

ETA: I've put probably 2000 rounds through it, both target ball ammo and personal defense and cleaned every 500 rounds or so, it still looks and acts brand new.

For that price range, I would look at the new Colt CCG, S&W E series, and SA RO. I've owned about 50 or so 1911s over the last 15 years, 5/6 being kimbers, the Full size ran great, but I had issues with their 4" guns.

Lots of people in here commenting based on hearsay or old Kimber myths.

Yes, they went through a rough stretch of QC, but that was years ago.

Yes, they use MIM and plastic MSHs in their lower models, but nearly every 1911 in that price range does. A lot of their steel frame guns have steel MSHs

They are a tad overpriced because they have like 90% of the 1911 market. You wouldn't believe how many people come in the store that think all 1911s are Kimbers

They have some great models. The new TLE you posted in OP is one of them. They released it this year and it looks and functions great. I'd love one in 10mm. The Super Carry and Super Carry HD series, the Master Carry series, the Gold Cup series, and many of their custom shop guns are pretty nice. The finishes are fine, and the fitment on these is slightly better than the cheaper models. We found the best fitment on the aforementioned SC HD guns

Their customer service is dogshit

Mine is a ridiculously accurate and aesthetically pleasing pistol. My only gripe with the gun at all is that occasionally, with several different shooters, the spent shell casing comes screaming right at the shooters face.

Shoots much tighter groups than my CZ 75 compact

I have one and I like it. Probably not fashionable to say but I like my Ruger a little better.
