his last few stops have been excellent work

People keep saying this, but is it actually true? I mean good for him getting the job he can get, but I think people are massively overplaying his accomplishments because he's American. He didn't get Egypt to the World Cup. He didn't get Le Havre promoted, even though it was razor thin. A lot of coaches have almost gotten their clubs promoted. Stabaek qualifying for Europa League for first time may actually be biggest club accomplishment for him.

Agree that recycling the same crap coaches is a bad idea, and agree that outsiders eventually have to be given a chance...just saying I don't think he had some divine right to be the one.

I feel like the Bob Bradley train is sounding like the keep Ed Orgeron train.

Well shouldn't the caveat to his time in Egypt be that there was a revolution going on and the Port Said massacre had just occurred. With Le Havre he had a club that spent only 24 seasons in Ligue 1. He's a decent coach, especially with his emphasis on positioning, and most of all, he's pragmatic in a way that I wish Klinsmann was. He does play favorites and his tactical style can be regressive, but I'd argue we the US was a better team in terms of spacing and positioning in comparison to now.

Overachieved in all IMO.

I think he did very well in managing all those sides. All were tough jobs.

He still obviously got this gig because of his american connections but people, including managers, often get gigs because of connections. I don't think it can be said that he doesn't deserve it or that he is unqualified. He's managed two national teams, Ligue 2 club, tippelagen club, mls clubs, and I think he has to be viewed as having varying degrees of success at all stops.

Considering everything that was going on at the time in that country, it was a modern miracle that he was able to field a competitive team that didn't hate each others guts, let alone be playoff vs Ghana away from the World Cup.
