Why did they kill this relationship the last season?
Also why did they make Andy a douche at the beginning of the series, make him mature into a pretty good character, then make him into a worse douche than he was at the beginning?

Because Ed Helms was too busy making movies to give a shite and its hard to develop a character if hes never on the show.

Nothing was more cringe worthy on that show than how Erin met her birth parents the last episode. That made me embarrassed for the writer who had to put that in the script.

It's called character development.
Also Ed Helms really came into himself as an actor so they needed to make him a pivotal part of the series.

Andy's character the last couple seasons of that show made me hate Ed Helms in real life.

I posted this in a thread about The Office a few months ago.
While many don't care for Andy, his 4 episode arch (Angry Andy to Free Family Portrait Studio) at the end of season 8 is a bit underrated. Andy recovered from his own mid life crisis to save the entire company. This was a great moment for a character who you wouldn't even think would be capable of such. It was a shame the third Hangover film would write Andy's character the direction it took in the end.
It's an easily forgotten story in the show that is much better than fans give it credit for.

Almost ruined the show for me when he went on that sailing adventure with his brother after his parents split (i get it, he was off making movies) but then came back as a huge douche. Although Nellie was an even worse character I feel like they could have found a better more humorous way to create conflict.

Anger management ruined his character

They screwed up the Nard Dogs character so much.
