The Largest Problem For LSU Fans Is Not Who LSU Will Hire

Some people keep trying to say LSU can't get this coach or that coach and I think outside of a few names (Saban, Urban, etc.) that is folly. It is too early to know any of that. People are just trying to troll and no LSU fan should listen.

I think in this cycle by far the largest problem for LSU fans isn't who might or might not take the job but the length of uncertainty until anyone takes the job.

Fans don't like uncertainty, after moving past the last regime they want to know the future is for sure bright as soon as possible. Most fanbases who fire coaches in December only have a few weeks of uncertainty, while LSU fans will have to face months of uncertainty. Guaranteed.

I don't know the delicate way to say this, but LSU fans aren't known for their patience. As the weeks turn into months the fanbase will demand certainty, to the point they will generate it through a hundred "I have a source and he says for sure its Herman/Jimbo/etc." type rumors that those coaches LSU is targeting will get annoying denying week after week as "journalists" dig that crap up to keep subscriptions and fill a news cycle.

I don't know what the answer is, but it sure feels like the rocky road ahead is the actual road and not where it leads...

Meh, we have football to watch. Hopefully LSU has REAL changes to its offense and they can make things interesting until the end of the season when they announce our new coach. I'd rather them get a leg up on the search and make some inroads behind the scenes. They did it the right way this time IMHO.

Even if he is the long term answer we won't know that for months because he has to win a lot of games between now and then to keep the job.

I agree every game he wins will be another week without angst, but on the flip side the week after every LSU loss will be the exact moment when LSU fans demand to see the paper where Jimbo or Herman signed in blood confirming they will come even though they are still trying to play out their seasons.

It will be interesting to see how the fans handle it for sure, but the real trouble will come from people with so-called sources (especially the kinds fans pay for) who give the fans what they want (aka made up rumors of confirmations) and in doing so only make the situation worse.

This could create a snowball effect by December.

For someone that doesn't know the answer, you sure as hell have had a shite ton to say on the subject the last 3 days.

As if that's just an LSU thing...

Seriously? That's society as a whole.

To the realistic and rational LSU fan, you kind of just stated the obvious.

It will die down soon. It was just thrown at us all of a sudden. We knew it was coming but not this quick.

What fans of good college teams are? None. Fwiw, I dont think the rant is an accurate depiction of the average LSU fan that follows football.

Every name under the sun is going to be thrown out there by every idiot reported and blogger. Thats a given but it doesnt help that we are the only vacancy right now.

Touche. Great point. Any major fanbase would do the same.

Yeah that is the truth. It isn't a situation special to LSU, it is a situation special to any fanbase that has to get through a whole season. Arky fans kinda did the same during the John L season.

Then just shut up already.

Don't your boys have a game this weekend? Doesn't your opponent deserve your attention more than LSU fans do?

I think it will be more high strung for LSU fans. Yea they have had recent success against us but it is still Arkansas. They arent on our level

I think it will actually be easier getting through the season now. With Miles gone, we are basically on a clean slate. We dont have the expectations now. Thats been wiped out in the first few games.

The losses would be terrible in a sense that people would be calling for Miles' head nonstop and it would make every game just 1 more closer to the end.

Miles gone is a positive

This. Its crazy how scared you are at the thought of LSU getting herman.

Plet the current staff play out. In the end if O goes on a run it might be even more uncertainty at the end of the season

That doesn't make sense, is O not being given a chance to earn the job?

USCe? No way.

You realize the game will be played in October, right? Isn't that aggie swoon season?

I wouldn't consider anyone a sure win for A&M - especially after September.

I will concede we might lose to USCe, but not because they are a better team or because I wasn't focused enough on it this week. If we lose it's because Coach Boom is Aggy kryptonite.

Nit really. Seems like every odd is stacked against him since everyone says its Herman/Fisher or bust which is crazy

I dont think any poster on here can answer that honestly. Regardless, we aint running the table. Ole Miss, Bama, Arkansas, and A&M are all still ahead with Florida in there. If we win 3 of those I would be shocked.
