I don't see anything anywhere that says you can't wear the camo hunter orange.

Also, can you bring a pistol with 22lr #12 rat shot during bow season?

Rookie here. Take it easy on me.

Doesn't it say solid?

Also, I believe you're not required to use it unless rifle (and primitive?) is open.

I've honestly never thought about that.

The use quotes and all caps, but I do not see a definition.

I'm assuming the definition of orange does not mean apple sauce, and it is actually referring to the color orange

Orange

They do not specify what the blaze orange must be, but only that it be blaze orange or pink. Shouldn't be an issue if it is a camo pattern.

Would have to check with a warden on the .22 question. The regs are murky this year on that subject.

I just realized .22 magnum would pack more punch. I will look into getting one of those instead.

I believe as long as you have the required square inches of orange you are good...
I've seen it used quite often...

I think you can carry whatever if you have a CC permit and on private land. If not, you can only carry rat shot during hunting season on WLF's. Unless they changed it.

From the hunter safety workbook...

Public lands: Hunters must display a cap and 400 square inches of solid blaze orange material at all times while deer hunting.

Private lands: Deer hunters must display at least a cap of solid blaze orange material.

Additionally, hunter orange is required when hunting on public lands during some small game seasons. Contact your local LDWF field office for further information.

Gov. Jindal passed a law protecting all hunters and allowing them to carry a pistol during bow season. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Orange and Blaze Pink
Any person hunting any wildlife during the
open firearms deer hunting season and
possessing buckshot, slugs, a primitive fire-
arm, or a centerfire firearm shall display on
their head, chest and/or back a total of not
less than 400 square inches of “HUNTER
ORANGE.” Additionally, pursuant to
R.S.56:143(A) and R.S.56:8(14.1), “BLAZE
PINK” may be displayed in lieu of hunter
orange.
Exceptions
? Persons hunting on privately owned
land may wear a hunter orange or blaze
pink cap or hat in lieu of the 400 square
inches.
? Not required of persons hunting deer
from elevated stands on property that is
privately owned. However, anyone
hunting deer on such lands where hunt-
ing with firearms is allowed shall be
required to display the 400 square inch-
es or a hunter orange or blaze pink cap
or hat while walking to and from elevat-
ed stands.
? Not required of archery deer hunters
hunting on lands where firearm hunting
is not allowed by agreement of the
landowner or lessee.
WARNING: Deer hunters are cautioned to
watch for persons hunting other game or
engaged in activities not requiring
“Hunter Orange” or “Blaze Pink.”
