As a kid I used to fish a hole beside a highway and I “caught” a SxS shotgun. I was pretty young 11 or so, I don’t remember much other than it was very rusty, the stock was pretty much gone. I remember leaving it there telling my dad and we went back to get it. He turned it over to the police and we never heard anything that I recall.
Since it was in a pool beside a highway who knows what it was used for or in - I doubt its past was a clear as the driven snow

My roommate in college used to dive under bridges and train tracks. He found all sorts of guns and even a car once. Turned over the new guns, kept the really old guns. He tried to stick to really old bridges and tracks that were around in the 1800's
