Never really noticed how similar of a career these two have. Carr spent 13 seasons at Michigan with a 122-40 record. Won a national championship in his 3rd season. And also claimed 5 Big Ten titles.

Very similar to the path Les has taken LSU. Although Carr was allowed to retire, it was very well known that Michigan forced him out.

He was replaced by a new, innovative offensive mind (thought to be one of the best in football at that time) by the name of Rich Rodriguez which started a 6 year downturn for the program.

Yeah I think this was discussed not too long ago, a parallel no doubt.

It was time to get rid of Carr. The mistake was hiring rich rod.

Fsu forced out Bowden and promoted jimbo. It worked out.

See it goes both ways. Fear of a potential bad hire is no reason not to make a move.

You rather allow Carr to run it into the ground?

the only problem with your comparison is that the career comparison is accurate and factual but the implication that LSU will implode post Miles is not.

yes, it CAN happen. but just because it happened at Michigan doesn't mean it will at LSU.

one thing I would say tho is that really good HC's that fit a particular college do not grow on trees (even tho the idiots on here think they do). Miles, a yankee, was able to "fit in" with the LA culture and embrace it. this translated into very successful recruiting.

whoever the next coach is, he better put together a "recruiting staff" par excellent. four and five star athlete's have their pick of programs no matter what some say.

You have no clue whatsoever of what you're talking about regarding the Michigan situation to make this argument. '

Rodriguez wasn't at Michigan 6 years and I would take him now to replace Miles.

Coaches that have been around like that do have that mentality I will do it my way until they run me out of here.

I do agree if Miles can't update the offense and utilize the personnel than he needs to call it a career. You think he would've learned after the end of last season but when you have all offseason to change something and don't it's on Miles. Truth will come out again when they play the difficult part of the schedule and the Bama measuring stick.

With that said, I sure hope LSU doesn't set the program back like what happened to Michigan and countless others like Nebraska and Tenn.

Lloyd Carr was a year removed from barely missing out on the national championship game. Les hasn't accomplished shite in 5 years.

Michigan brought in Rich Rod who tried to install a spread system with players that weren't recruited for that. Maybe if he had some more time to get players for his system it could have worked out.

The big lesson here is that LSU doesn't need to go to an all out spread in one season or with the next coach. They need more creativity within the Pro Style (like Mich St, Stanford, Georgia ect.) Trying to go from a power team to a spread team overnight isn't a great recipe for success like Michigan found out.

At first, it looked like Michigan was going to trade an old Carr for one with Les Miles, but ultimately decided, why settle for Les if you can get Rich Quick?

The Rich Rod eventually blew a gasket.

This is my biggest fear with everyone wanting Miles out. Yes, he can be frustratingly stubborn. However, the guy wins games. The problem is that lately he just isn't winning the big games.

Bull freaking shite. We were stale with Lloyd Carr.

Also, we were at least able to win a Sugar Bowl during that drought. We're sitting pretty high right now with Harbaugh. The program hasn't been this energized and enthusiastic in quite some time.

The problem is that for every 1 saban that you come across, you will have to work through 3 dinardos.

Top tier coaches are not easy to find. A lot of guys who seem promising don't turn out to be as advertised. Keep in mind Rich Rod was very successful at W.V. which is not the easiest place to win at....

This is nonsense. Can you point to one thing Miles does that another coach couldn't? We live in Louisiana and sit right next door to Texas. Miss St wins 8-9 games a year in the same division with average talent at best. Arkansas has developed a hard nosed team with half the talent we possess. Miles has currently pulled in the #6, #2, #5, and #3 classes over the past 4 years, and we look like hot garbage against an FCS school, some Big 10 average body, and mediocre vs the worst team in our division.

Two of our 3 losses last year were by 2 or more TDs to guys with not even half the football talent or SEC head coaching experience as Miles. Five of our eight losses in 2014 and 2015 were by 2 or more TDs.

Over the past 4 years Miles is barely over .500 vs SEC teams and all teams that have at least a .500 or better record during the year he played them.

There are plenty who could do just as well as Miles with less talent and a more enjoyable team. Several would do much better if they had the talent that Miles gets.
