Ehhh. It's probably pretty close to normal. Just going off of personal experience, I've definitely driven 3 vehicles since in the lifespan of my last mattress (only one was owned purely during the life of that mattress and the others overlapped). I don't know anyone rushing to get a new mattress every 8 years (highly exaggerated number to replace your mattress, even had mattress stores tell me that). Yet most people get tired of their cars and after they are paid off in 5 years or so, they have that extra money in their pocket and they end up getting another. I'd say it's pretty dead on, not abnormal.

Now regarding car dealerships being as common as mattress stores, maybe it's because Mattress Firm originated in Houston, but they are everywhere. Easily......EASILY outnumber car dealerships. And it isn't just in certain areas. I can be at a Mattress Firm in 10 minutes in pretty much any part of the Houston metro area. It's insane.
