What if a guy puts on Marine dress blues on the 4th of July, or other patriotic holiday, and walks around the downtown celebration attired in that manner?

He was in the Marines for four years and left the service about 35 years ago. As he walks around the crowd, he introduces himself as "Staff Sergeant ....".

Is that OK? Is that "douchey"?

Same facts but change the branch of service to Coast Guard. OK? "Douchey" ?

Questions like these sometimes get inconsistent answers, so, I though I'd ask.

frick it, they gave 4 years of their life for your freedom, let em wear their badge proudly. Yes, some of them can be douche bags, but most aren't.

Given all the hate for America being exhibited by bad QBs and lesbian soccer players, I don't have a problem with it.

If they served, I don't care if something like this is done; however, I wouldn't do it myself.

If he obtained SSG in the marines in 4 years then yes that is ok.

Mostly because I am pretty sure that's impossible.

At least for real military branches it is.
