They had the guy for 2nd Line on WWL last night and he said something that was just a little mind-boggling. He said Louisiana has a total of 23 breweries and there are small towns in Oregon that have over 50 alone. Just shows how far behind the game we are down here.

besides the laws and the general bs that holds southern states back in these regards.
i think this plays a role on where beer is produced

Day length during the growing season, as determined by latitude, has a major effect on yield. 2015 North American Commercial Hop Production Washington - 32,205 acres (70.8%) Oregon - 6,807 acres (15%) Idaho - 4,975 acres (10.9%) Other States - 1,244 acres (2.7%) Canada - 257 acres (0.6%) Total - 45,488 acres

Nah. Oregon has about 250 breweries total. I think Bend has about 25, and it has about 80K people. I can't think of any city with over 50, besides Portland.
Hood River has about 8K people and has about 10 breweries. That's a pretty good ratio.

Yeah, we a good ways behind, but compared to where we were even two years ago and compared to much of the country, I think we are doing pretty damn good.

Legit question: Does it matter how many local breweries there are as long as one can get the product?
Aside from drinking onsite I mean.
