A little more light was shown on all this hypothesizing today when Cinemablend confirmed that in the audio commentary for X-Men: Apocalypse, director Bryan Singer says that Nathaniel Essex will be a villain in Wolverine 3. For those not familiar with the comics, Nathaniel Essex also goes by the name Mister Sinister, and he’s about as powerful a villain as the X-Men ever faced next to Apocalypse. In the comics, Sinister is capable of damn near anything and has a deep-seated disgust with anything or anyone who is not up to his might. Singer pointed at a post-credits sequence in X-Men: Apocalypse where the name Essex Corp. can be seen on a briefcase, and then went on to say that Essex Corp. and Nathaniel will be incorporated into Wolverine 3

Please don't mess this up Fox

Not a big fan of the character but FOX hasn't disappointed me since X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so I'm in.

So, they gave Wolverine Cyclops' love story in X3, and now they are giving him Cyclops' villain, too. Cool.

Oh, and the Marauders are some of the best under the radar X-Men villains. No high minded ideals, they just kill people.

Yeah, no shite! Sinister is obsessed with the Summers-Grey family/genome. Pretty ridiculous to put him up against Wolverine.

I read a synopsis of Old Man Logan and Sinister isn't in it. In fact it looks like about 90% of the characters are people Fox doesn't have the rights to.

Yeah, Sinister is Jean Grey and Scott Summers' Big Bad. Utterly ridiculous they're giving him to Wolverine.

Well, now. There was a time when he was the most important X-Man other than Prof. X.

You probably consider Wolverine the best character in the X-Men universe.

as a 10 YO reading them in the 90's yes i did.

in retrospect, most interesting is Cable, Magneto, Bishop, or Psyloche (eff you singer for giving a great character 3 lines in a movie.)

that being said, Wolverine was the most diverse character who had a lot of relationships outside of just the x-men and blended well into other parts of the Marvel universe because of his past and healing ability moreso than his claws.

But they already screwed up and cast the perfect person to play Sinister as Apocalypse.

And what is his origin story?

Oh, yeah, that's right. He's born due to the manipulation of Cyclops by Mr. Sinister.

Big fan of how the X-Men and Wolverine properties have been handled, I don't even mind X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The movies are a lot of fun and they also seem to manage the stakes really well.

You base your entire feelings of Cyclops on a cartoon and movies that strayed about as far as you can from the source material. There's way more depth to his character than Wolverine, who is basically nothing more than a superhero trope.
