Personally, I think a F350 would only be warranted if you need dual rear wheels. Half ton trucks are way stronger than they were just 20 to 25 years ago, and the only real difference between a 3/4 ton and a 1 ton is an extra spring (or two) on each side in the back. If it is pulling rather than hauling, I would save your money and get more motor in a 250.
Just my $0.02.
Heck, a properly equipped half ton might do the job if it meets the towing capacity requirements.
Let me ask this, how often are you going to be pulling and what is the max weight of the trailer, all in?

I can't answer that as I have not bought a trailer yet. I was just trying to get a truck that would pull whatever I want.
