I'm guessing toward the promotion right now from what I hear

Dinardo-esque. LSU is not a training ground. With the competition in the SEC now, better hire the best out there or end up as a commentator on a network.

Miles has a damn good record in hiring assistant coaches. Whether or not the next guy comes from within is mute - Miles has proven that is one thing he does extremely well.

If inside promotion then why isn't this person coaching the defense in the MNC game? Just doesn't seem right to me.

Maybe Rocket can organize a Tenuta march. The LSU football program is not one that should be used as an expirement to see whether or not someone is ready to be the coordinator. I would much rather replace Mallory who gets that opportunity elsewhere than throwing him into the SEC fire. Also, if he gets Pelini's endorsement remember this - When Skip retired, he recommended Smoke; when Saban bolted, he recommended Houston Nutt.
