If I told you you had to call a play for this offense to gain 1 yard and your life depended on it, you're likely calling the same thing. In hindsight we can talk about misdirection, PA looks, naked bootlegs, etc., but the bottom line is that the play would have been very successful with adequate execution. It had nothing to do with Wisconsin out scheming us or something.

On a one yard play, misdirection is inherent. You are taking the majority of the defense out of the play and throwing an extra blocker in the exact spot he is needed.

Here's a little secret. The toss dive is the problem. The rb might be able to see things better, but so can the lb. the lb has no doubt what he has to do. There's absolutely no threat of play action or bootleg.

Remember when DeAngelo Peterson had the ball tossed back to him on a reverse against Bama?

When you're recalling plays from 6 six years ago to prove a point it makes it obvious that these types of plays aren't run enough.

That's my concern. Throw ONE wrinkle in to simply make people doubt what you call. Instead of toss the damn thing actually go for the handoff and maybe just maybe ONE TIME call a bootleg. I'm not saying a Bootleg would have worked there but everyone crashed down and Harris had one on one to the wide side of the field.

It isn't that they defended the run.

They committed to the HOLE.

frick reverses. I mean. They're fun but usually they're an admission of failure.

But it might be nice if linebackers has a little doubt in their minds regarding the friggin hole

was 4th and 1, dude. Every coach in the world would run that play with LF7 in the backfield on 4th and 1.

It's not the fact that we ran on that play. It's the fact that we are not a threat to pass at all and everyone knows that.

Really? Nothing to do with them out scheming us? They completely sold out to stop 7 in the exact hole that the play was designed for....they must have just gotten lucky. I'm sure the defense didn't get coached up all week to recognize LSU's tendencies and formations in down and distance.

Could be the dumbest thing I've heard all day...I had to read your post 3 times to make sure you weren't trolling or being sarcastic.

I'm not looking for a double reverse to the tight end....a quick snap QB sneak would've probably worked....or how about just not running to same play that you just ran two out of three plays before?

As much as the O'line "whiffed" I'm convinced the problem is systematic. Also, there are no adjustments based on defensive personnel, LSU runs the play as called.

It's worse than that.

If you watched 10 games of film if us, the run out of THAT formation goes to THAT hole 98% of the time of not more.

You don't need to be fancy. But, you can't put up a billboard as to the friggin hole

Holy frick man two main things stand out to me watching this gif.

1. WTF is Foster Moreau (84) doing?! The dude literally comes off the snap and runs up the field without laying a block on anyone. What a joke.

2. JD Moore is a goddam monster. Despite this total clusterfrick of a play, he still does his job - completely DEMOLISHING the edge rusher.

Nothing. When you're an average block away from a TD, your scheme wasn't the problem.

Let me be clear, we have major issues with the scheme, but this was an easy one. A gimme. You don't need to be cute at all but cause the play should work.

If we line up and have misdirection and get tackles in the backfield this board would be bitching that we didn't need to be cute and whatnot, and they'd be right. We're picking it apart in hindsight, but I'm sure Wisconsin thinks they got lucky on this one because they were beat until Jeter happened.

I've been saying that since the game. This was an elite defense that LSU went up against. Well coached. Disciplined. They knew exactly where the weaknesses would be and they exploited it

There is a pretty good chance that LF7 takes that one to the house if those two TEs execute blocks. The field beyond that tackle was wide open.

this. those two guys WHIFFED AT THE POINT OF ATTACK. it's pathetic.

we recruit plenty of TE's; why can't we teach at least a couple of them how to block. this is beyond ridiculous.
