I wish Gibson had done a trilogy of the Spanish Conquistadors...and the beginning of Part 2 is the ending of Apocalypto
I've been begging for a movie like this for years. It's the type of movie I most want to see right now, especially after reading on the subject. It's amazing how Conquistadors were able to dominate tens of thousands with just dozens of men and, especially, a few dozen horses. They tore up some great cultures. And Apocalypto was sheer brilliance.

Spielberg has been attempting to do a movie about Cortes and his conquest of the Aztecs for the last couple of years. It is coming steadily closer to fruition with Javier Bardem on tap to play the famed Spanish conquistador.
