I disagree with the people saying you should call his parents. That would be taking control away from him and involving people he may not want involved. It could add to his stress and exacerbate his depression.

I'm not saying that contacting his parents is never an option--if you suspect he may be suicidal or may otherwise harm himself, you should get in touch with them. But right now, I think it would be irresponsible to contact them.

You should talk to your friend and see how that goes. Read about depression and how you can help a friend who's suffering from it. See how that goes first.

He's got 10 out of those 12 symptoms. FML man, I'm not good talking about this bullshite. I don't have empathy at all and am too blunt to talk about it without upsetting him. I think he knows what's going on, but doesn't want to admit it or go to a doctor. I don't understand not wanting to do anything ever. Just baffles me.
