We're 'olds' with wives and kids (they are not coming :)) so probably hitting tailgates for food/drinks and general football talk with SEC fans I assume the drive in and out from NO is insane on game days, and BR hotels are full - any suggestions - motels or hotels between NO and BR or other routes within an hour max of the stadium?

It's not terrible depending on what time you leave. If checking out Nola is something y'all would be interested in, stay there and drive to BR early Saturday morning. You really won't hit traffic until you get close to campus.

Now, driving back to Nola after the game might be a problem.

If y'all are trying to stay as close to BR as possible, look at hotels near Seigen lane. They are further away (about 10 min) but should have some rooms available.
