Rotary Cutters (Bush Hog)

I'm wanting to get a new one for the deer lease, 4 wheeler trails, food plots, etc.
Is Bush Hog still the big name in the business?
I'm looking at the Bush Hog 326 6' cutter.
Any other brands to look at?

Dude don't spend $4500 on a bush hog unless your cutting heavy duty shite.
For what your doing this should work fine.

Woods Brush Bull is a solid brand. That's what we have behind our JD 5083.

Never heard of that brand. Is it worth a damn?

Craiglist will save you a ton of money.

We have a 5 ft and use it for the same stuff you mentioned. Had it for about 4 years and no issues yet. If you want to step up a bit get the woods cutter.

Better figure out the shear bolt size and keep a couple extra. Anything over a tiny sapling will probably destroy that thing.

My FIL paid 4500 for a used 10' like pictured. Its a good piece of equipment but I feel like he over paid. If you can work on one you can find some much cheaper that just need a new deck

This is a good one Clyde it will last a lifetime I think it weighs 965lbs 6 foot galvanized super sunshine by Modern ag equipment it is very well built I have one and really like it alot. I can't speak for their competitor line it looks great but doesn't come with the slip clutch. Goodluck!

That would be the one I would buy IF I were to buy a new one. Got a old JD 6' that cost me $100 for new blades and a little welding on the deck for $100 off craigslist. Been using it for 5 years and clip a shite load with it.

Lester's Tractor on Greenwood Rd. sells these galvanized units. fyi.

The 326 is heavy duty. Get the BH20 series. It's a step down from the heavy 326 and yes Bush Hog is still the best brand in the business. You can find tons of knock off out there these days but when something breaks and you need replacement parts, Bush Hog parts are easy to come by.

Rhino is also a great brand to look at. We've had a 15' batwing of theirs for about 10 years with almost no issues

Land pride is just fine. We've had one for 8+ years and it does what we need it to do.
You should be able to get a good 6ft for less than 2k. Maybe around $1k like in the link.

Bush Hog and Rhino are both owned by Alamo now. Your just about going to get the same cutter. Land Pride was just purchased by Kubota and that is what a Kubota dealer will sell you every time you buy a tractor so they can finance the package. I used to sell Bush Hogs and that's my choice. These are the brands you can't go wrong with. Bush Hog, Rhino, Land Pride and Woods. everyone else is a step (or 3) down. Brown MFG makes a great HD tree cutter but you won't need anything that heavy. Don't overthink this and but a good name brand. You will need parts one day so pay a little more and make it easier on yourself.

I tend to lean towards modern because they are galvanized and that will make a difference if it is going to be somewhere damp all the time like south Louisiana.
But you can't go wrong with a woods, modern, or land pride

I have a woods brush bull 720 medium duty cutter . I've had it 5yrs and I've gotten my 1600 out of it and then some. It's heavy as hell and has a 120hp gearbox with a slip clutch. It would more than likely cut a lot more than I try to cut with it. I will buy another if this one dies. I use it behind a Kubota MX5100 with a loader. I have to keep the loader on or it picks the front tires up lol

I have a Woods roto-cutter thad dad got free with a Ford tractor he bought from Plaqumine Parish DOT years ago. They said it was on its last leg and would only give him a couple years of service. That was 1984. I'm still using that tractor and bushhog at deer camp and the condo boatyard.
Woods makes good stuff.
Won't say much about Ford, but my Chevy tows it just fine.
