EXCLUSIVE: After faring so well together in Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are re-teaming in another Sony Pictures comedy. They’ll star in Holmes & Watson, with Etan Cohen directing a script that is inspired by the Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes tale, but with a PG-13 comic bent similar to their past collaborations. Ferrell and Reilly have been looking for several years to find another opportunity to work together, and now they’ve got it. Ferrell will play Holmes and Reilly will play his faithful wing man, Watson.

I know this will be a silly comedy, but in the past 7 years this will be the 3rd incarnation of Sherlock Holmes to hit theatres. Man Hollywood has a hard on for Sherlock Holmes right now.

A 2009 movie with Robert Downey Jr
A TV show starring Benedict Cumberbatch
Loosely based "Elementary" with Lucy Liu
and this...Arthur Conan Doyle is rolling over in his grave.

Robert Downey Jr./Jude Law in 2009 and then the sequel

Ian McKellen starred in a movie called Mr. Holmes in 2015

And now this.

And I totally forgot about the Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller TV shows.

So 3 movies, 2 television shows.

Did you seriously not know this? A drug dependent genius who plays music solves impossible mysteries by eliminating all possibilities; except for the truth.

A friend in "the industry" told me that Sandra Bullock (Holmes) and Melissa McCarthy (Watson) will be starring in a female Sherlock mystery set in the 30's with a Amelia Earhart vibe. Starts to film in 2018.

Will Ferrel continues just to mail it these days and seemingly could care less about plot lines, script, etc.

Sorry, not gonna be sucked into another one of his shitty movies.
